Received his PhD from Harvard Business School. Is now a professor at the University of Tokyo and a faculty fellow of the Research Institute of Economy, Trade, and Industry. His works include The Evolution of a Manufacturing System at Toyota (coauthor) and Product Development Performance: Strategy, Organization and Management in the World Auto Industry.
