Received his Ph.D. in economics from the University of Rochester. Has taught at the University of Houston and Tokyo Metropolitan University; is now a professor at the University of Tokyo. Author of Dejitaru na keizai (A Digital Economy), Keizai no yomikata yosoku no shikata (Reading and Forecasting the Economy), and other works.
