Received his PhD in economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Has been an assistant professor at Yale University; is now a professor at the University of Tokyo. Author of Disequilibrium Dynamics, Benisu no shônin no shihonron (Capitalism According to the Merchant of Venice), Kahei ron (Money), Kaisha wa kore kara dô naru no ka (What Will Become of the Corporation?), and other works.
